The Wharton School is delighted to present to you the most ambitious campaign in Wharton’s history—Innovation and Leadership: The Campaign for Wharton. As part of the University of Pennsylvania’s Making History capital campaign, with a goal of $3.5 billion, The Campaign for Wharton has a fundraising goal of $550 million to be raised by June 30, 2012. The Campaign for Wharton is centered on three thematic areas of support.
Driving Innovation encompasses the areas of research programs and curriculum development. This includes two visionary institutes, along with pioneering research and dynamic tools for teaching and learning—all of which have the potential to elevate Wharton’s presence within the business community, promote its position as a thought leader and create dramatic impact on the world.
Because Wharton’s faculty and students are the hallmark of excellence within the School, Educating Leaders is comprised of faculty support in the form of professorships, research and programmatic resources, along with student support through MBA and doctoral fellowships, undergraduate scholarships and the Undergraduate Scholars Programs.
Finally, Sustaining Excellence highlights the vital role of technology and facilities in the Wharton community, and unrestricted support for the Dean’s Discretionary Fund and The Wharton Fund.
While Wharton’s peer institutions have some of these components, Wharton would become the only institution to house a suite of overarching initiatives, which will create a powerful and comprehensive complement of experiential leadership, internationalization, entrepreneurial education and access. The Campaign for Wharton will enhance the study and practice of business on a global scale—and will confirm Wharton’s position as the preeminent business school in the world.
